06:19 pm - Petite Anglaise What a surprise to find your very own Daddy mentioned on somebody else's blog:
http://www.petiteanglaise.com/archives/2005/01/10/tripping/
It raises all sorts of issues. First of all he thought "gallant" that's a nice thing to say, but then the conclusion of the story doesn't paint him in the most positive of lights. But how much of that is "blogetic licence"? It does, after all, make for a good story and a great punchline. Is that exactly how whe rememebers the story, or is it just that my Daddy doesn't remember it quite that way?
The fact that Petite Anglaise was sacked for writing her blog - and it has now been concluded that it was unfair dismissal - made Daddy not exactly have sympathy for his ex-employers but at least understand where they were coming from. It is now very easy for people to write about you, ordinary Joe Bloggs, Joe Public and for thousands of people to read about you. Never before possible. And now my Daddy's going "well, that's a bit unfair". But then how much of it is just for the story? And does he really care?
The descriptions of her bosses, to be honest, are fairly accurate and actually fairly tame. I'm sure that they could have been described in numerous other ways that would have been accurate and would have merited dismissal. What's more, you would have to have known the context to actually be able to identify it as Dixon Wilson. As there were only 20-odd people working there, its hardly bringing the name of the company into disrepute, especially as I heard people saying worse things about the firm.
As for the stairs - they were dangerous. Yes, people did trip. And after Petite Anglaise tripped, all one of the partners could do was make a joke of it with visiting clients.
So what?
Blogs are dangerous things. Even the funniest tale can cause hurt (I'll have to re-read mine).
Should Daddy sell his story to the highest bidder? I'm surprised that the papers haven't been contacting ex-DW employees to dish the dirt.
Buy her book when it comes out. Current Location: home Current Mood: bouncy Current Music: Peter Pan

01:10 pm - with Charlotte It was really cold and foggy when we went to Berkhamsted. When we arrived Charlotte and Sue were there and they showed me the Playmobil Treasure Island with the ghost. I kept having to hug people and say "it's alright" or "don't worry" because they were quite scared.
We then went to have a coffee in Costa's and to see Katie who had just finished working at Waitrose. Then we went back to the house and Bruce had arrived but looked very tired. We were all quite cold - and then we had dinner, Katie, Charlotte and I which was yummy pasta. Katie went to a party and I slept in Charlotte's room (but she was very well behaved)
I sometimes got confused between Charlotte and Katie.

01:07 pm - Dancing Queen When Erin and Kate came to visit (see 29 August) with Pat, Granma insisted on putting on her favourite record - "Dancing Queen" by Abba. She plays it all the time and I have to dance to it. Anything to keep her happy. And then Julia and Emma from next door came as well. I learned a new verse to Ring-a-ring of roses, something to do with cows and buttercups.
Next door was one of the phrases I learned this Christmas as we kept going next door to feed the rabbit and the cat. Seeing as I spent ten days speaking just English, people started to understand me better.

01:00 pm - Abi and me Abi was the first person we went to visit after having gone to Granma and Granpa's. We went for lunch in Oxford and she made us soup which was really lovely.
We had great fun in the car shouting "Abeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee" and "Aleeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeese". It was so much fun that when we left Abi, I cried a lot.
We were supposed to be going to see Maria, Manoj, Chandni and Ishaan after but they all had the flu so we had to cancel. I was sad.

02:12 pm - Reading "Spot" with Granpa Granpa was favourite when I arrived. I used to call him "Magga" but I've gone all grown up now. Somebody said I kept shouting for him because he was reluctant to come to me but that's not the case at all. I just prefer men. I am, after all, a Daddy's girl. ANd when he turned up, I couldn't get enough of "My-cool".

02:04 pm - Christmas ferry I was pretty excited about the boat - it was a chance to run around and I also got to play with some friends that I had made at the café at Boulogne who also got on the boat. I don't think Mummy or Daddy were very keen about driving onto the boat. Mummy drove on and then she made Daddy drive off.
Can you see the cathedral in the background? It was responsible for much calamatousness. When we came into Boulogne, Daddy asked Mummy if she could see the cathedral - it really does stick out, but it was obscured somewhat by trees when Daddy asked the question. Mummy was also driving round a roundabout at the time, avoiding a large lorry and din't really care. And then Daddy went on about it "But you must be able to see it - it's huge. I don't remember it being so big blah blah blah" (as he does). "All I can see is McDonald's and a pylon" said Mummy.
We arrived at the harbour in plenty time so decided to see if we could fill up with diesel - much cheaper in France than in the UK. We hadn't seen any petrol stations on the way in, so decided to cruise through Boulogne and back out again to see what we could find. After a few wrong turns, we found a sign for a Leclerc, followed the directions, got lost again and then found more signs, followed them and then discovered that we were heading back the way we came and discovered that the Leclerc was right next to the McDonalds that Mummy had seen earlier. Further proof that religion sends you on the wrong track.
It was great to be able to stretch my legs on the boat after feeling confined in the car.

09:26 am - Sunset through the fog, woman walking dog I am amazed by the power of the Internet. Less than 24 hours after posting this photo, along with some very ordinary family Christmas shots, this photo has been viewed 60 times on my flickr website. A little short of the billions of potential visitors but still my most popular picture - double the second placed. And 8 people have declared it one of their favourites - including 7 people I don't even know.
How did this happen? And why?
I feel overwhelmed. I know its not much, but the fact that 7 people in the world that I have never met like one of my photos enough to click a button on the website makes me feel very proud (is this the correct word?)
It really makes me want to go out and take more photos and try and take better photos so that more people will look at my photos. It has also given me more ideas. When somebody has made a comment, or marked a photo as a favourite, I have gone to their page and looked at what they have taken. All of it is very inspiring.
And to think I just started this as a way of letting family and friends in the UK see how things were going.

09:12 pm - Christmas Off we went to Redditch to see Clare. It took me a wee while to get comfortable but as soon as I did, I took all my clothes off and said that I wanted to have a bath.
Although I didn't cry when I left Clare (I went to sleep, actually), I do talk about her alot - maybe because I know that my middle name is because of her.
